Question about the Reflective Journals

I read the fundamentals handbook about reflective journals, but I stil lam slightly confused.

For our first entry, do we write about the orientation, and do we turn it in at the end of the day in those "blue books (also, how many are we supposed to get?, and can we write both entries in the same book)" or on a regular sheet of paper? Does anyone have any idea about anything, and everything that has to do with the journals, especially for Kaiser, Manteca? thanks :).

Here's what I understand:

Page 3 under the Guidelines for Clinical Reflective Journal (In the Fundamentals of Nursing) suggests we write about "Day 1 - How do I feel about going to a Long Term Facility? What is the RN's role? what are the functions?... etc". It's basicly how you feel BEFORE you go to your first clinical. If you want to write about something else that what is on the list, but pretains to self-assessment, than do.

We are to turn this in at the beginning of your first clinical day in the morning. It appears to me that the instructor will read them, then hand the books back (no need for a loose sheet of paper) by the end of the day so that we can write entry # 2.

the second entry is about how the first day went. you can compare you expectation to the acutal outcome of the day, what you thought about the facility, and any concerns you may have. This gets turned in on the beginning of the second day.

As far as the books go, any bound journal book will do, and we only need one. Just find something you are comfortable writing in, and you will be ok.

Hope that helps. Christine
